Do Nothing

スペシャルズの二枚目、More Specials(ASIN:B00005YU96)は、僕の大好きなアルバムである。ジェリー・ダマーズの趣味大爆発で。ベスト１０にはかならず入るはず。色んな好きな曲が入っている。特に好きなのは、テリー・ホールが、ローダ・ダコール（当時、ボディ・スナッチャーズ、のちにスペシャルAKA）とデュエットする"I Can't Stand It"だけど、"Do Nothing"も捨てがたい。で、その歌詞をネットで見つけたので訳してみた。

ヘブディッジやギルロイの素描するサッチャー政権下での焦燥感が伺える。とくに「ファッションこそが僕の文化」というフレーズに、当時のサブカルチャーにおけるアイデンティティ形成の問題が現れているような気がする。ＣＳの研究対象となりそうな曲。
